Forged Iron Cabinet Knobs and Drawer PullsForged iron cabinet knobs and pulls are created by a labor and skill intensive process. Using century's old blacksmith forging techniques, the blacksmith repeats a process of heating iron to a point where it becomes malleable and then hammering or punching the iron until it takes the desired shape and appearance. Witnessing this, it becomes understandable why forged iron cabinet hardware is generally more expensive cast iron cabinet hardware. Cast iron hardware, which gets it shape by pouring molten iron into a mold or pattern, has a much uniform appearance among knobs and pulls created from the same casting process. The look of each piece of forged iron hardware, however, reflects each blacksmiths strike of a hammer or punch of a chisel.
