Large Acrylic Clawfoot Tubs and Large Cast Iron Clawfoot TubsSome of todays most popular reproduction clawfoot style tubs are large in comparison to the typical original antique cast iron clawfoot tubs. With a few exceptions, clawfoot tubs manufactured from the mid-1800s through the early 1900s were designed to fit smaller bathrooms and accommodate bathers who were on average shorter than today. Generally speaking, the largest clawfoot tubs available are the double-end and double slipper tubs as they are meant to accommodate more than one bather. As a rule of thumb, large reproduction acrylic and cast iron clawfoot tubs are those approaching six feet in length. Freestanding tubs this large often rest on ornate lion paw feet or pedestal bases since as these options provide more stability than traditional ball and claw feet.
