Clawfoot Bathtub Drain Tips

The following tips are provided to assist you in selecting the appropriate drain/overflow size for your tub. Please refer to the diagram at the left as you read these tips.

Drains are measured from the center of the drain shoe (E) to the center of the tee (N). The overflow is measured from the overflow elbow (J) to the center of the tee (N). Therefore, a 6 ¾" Drain/13" Overflow would measure 6 ¾" from the center of part E to the center of part N and 13" from part J to the center of part N. The tubes (parts F & K) can be cut to shorter lengths so it is wise to purchase a drain/overflow that is at least as large as you need, if not slightly larger.

Drain Installation Instructions

All leg tub drains should be installed by a qualified, licensed plumber. Please use teflon tape on all threaded connections.

Rough in 1 1/2" male IPS with 1/2" to 1" of threads above the finished floor. All tubing for Sign of the Crab drains is 1 3/8", replicating the original size of these drains. Use the included 1 3/8" x 1 1/2" square cut reducing washer to connect these sets with a 1 1/2" drain. Other brands use 1 1/2" OD tubing and will not include or require the reducing washer. The rough in for the drain hole on the floor is a plumb line from the center of the roll rim on the tub to the floor and approximately 4" from the wall behind the tub.
