Shop 4 Classics Project Spotlight

When I bought my 1920's bungalow, it wasn't in great shape but it had potential. I wasn't sure if this home would simply be a starter home or would become a project home but it was evident that it had been both for many people before me. Ten years and many projects later, my bungalow has clearly become a project home.

As I focused on other rooms, the neglected first floor bathroom became a genuine eyesore. The tub and shower had mildew that could not be eliminated. The vanity sink and toilet were stained beyond repair. Wallpaper pealed away from the walls and linoleum rolled up along the edges of the floor. The bathroom was a disaster.

The bathroom required a complete demolition and rebuild. I removed the tub, vanity, and toilet. I tore out the walls, ceiling, and floor and discovered false walls that cheated the small room of extra space. With the additional space, I made room for a Sunrise Specialty cast iron clawfoot tub with a clawfoot tub shower enclosure. I added an American Standard pedestal sink and a Sunrise Specialty pull chain toilet to conserve space or at least create the appearance of open space.

Now complete, the first floor bathroom that was once blight is now bright. It draws attention for an entirely different and more positive reason.

We moved into our newly constructed home six years ago and are now in the process of "fixing" a list of things that had been nagging at us since we moved in. Replacing the drab builder's grade steel heat registers was near the top of our to-do list. A few of the heat registers in our kitchen even had rust spots as a result of years of mopping the floors. We choose Hamilton Decorative's black Strathmore registers and are amazed at the dramatic difference that they've made.

We couldn't be more pleased with the Elizabethan Classics pedestal sink and matching toilet. We have also received many complements on the oil rubbed bronze faucet and toilet and sink trim kits. The oil rubbed bronze finish throughout really completes the bathroom's finished look.
